On October 13th 2013, Amour Exhibitions will be hosting their ‘Duke of Diamonds’ event – a casino themed wedding fair at the Duke of Cornwall hotel in Plymouth, Devon. Built during the Golden Age of Steam, the Duke of Cornwall was Plymouth’s first luxury hotel, described as one of the nation's finest examples of Victorian architecture, complete with a ballroom, tower and turret, oak panels and elaborate ceiling roses.

From 11am – 4pm, the ‘Duke of Diamonds’ event will consist of 35 local wedding exhibitors – including Justin Illusion, Blue Skyes Photography, Bar Rambla, Robins & Moore Jewellery, Celebrations Balloons and many more – as well as live music and entertainment from 4 Tissimo String Quartet, Chameleon Roadshow and Strictly Classic to suit the black-tie casino theme, a modern twist on the typical wedding fair with all the glitz and glamour of a celebrity style event.

On September 29th, Amour Exhibitions will be hosting their next event at Glazebrook Country House Hotel in South Brent - a Great Gatsby themed Wedding Fair at a luxury hotel in the idyllic countryside surrounding Dartmoor National Park, sending you back in time to the roaring 20's and giving you the chance to see some of the finest wedding suppliers all under one roof.
The Great Gatsby is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. Based around the social history of America during the ‘Roaring Twenties’, the novel covers themes such as the human aspiration to start over again, as well as social politics and its brutality. More than anything, the Roaring Twenties revolved around status, wealth and glamour, along with the popularity of jazz music and ‘modern fashion’.

Exhibitors at the ‘Great Gatsby at Glazebrook’ event will bring a real vintage feel to the occasion, including Nicola Hurst Jewellery, Angelface Gowns, Truly Scrumptious Sweets, Bluebella lingerie, The Ivy Beauty Rooms, Momentos Photography and many more, as well as live entertainment from Chameleon Roadshow and 4 Tissimo String Quartet.

From 11am – 4pm, the event will consist of around 35 of the best local wedding suppliers complimenting the fabulous styles of the glamorous Gatsby era, as well as an opportunity to enjoy live music, free entry and a free welcome drink upon arrival.

Lindy Hoppers South West will be exhibiting at Glazebrook House Wedding Fair on Sunday.
They are a group of Lindy Hop enthusiasts founded in 2004, based in the Exeter area who enjoy and promote this unique social dance for all age groups.
Formed in 2004 because there was no Savoy Style Lindy Hop in the area. They attract dancers from the whole of the South West region, holding regular Beginner's & Intermediate classes in EXETER & TOTNES as well as practice sessions, workshops, demonstrations and swing dances that include music from the Big Band era, Jump Jive and Blues.

Work Experience Day 1 – 23/09/2013

I’m Kelly, an aspiring journalist and writer from Cornwall.

Today marked the beginning of an 8 week work placement with Amour Exhibitions. I took this placement because I’m interested in journalism and events management. My main focus is music journalism, and I’m keen to start my own music magazine in the future, but currently have no experience in running a business. By working with Amour Exhibitions, I’ll have the chance to see how a small business operates and to improve my journalistic skills by writing articles and blogs for the company.

This morning has been spent writing an editorial piece for the company’s upcoming event in South Brent, Devon, which has been emailed to the local newspapers from the South Brent area. The article explained the basic idea behind the company, with a brief insight to the Amour Exhibitions team, a quote from manager Jodie Hawkins on why she started the company, details about the upcoming event and some previous feedback from clients.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be writing blog posts about the work placement, detailing most of the journalistic work that I'm involved with, such as writing newsletters and editorial pieces for events and venues and working on business plans for my own magazine.

Cotehele, Saltash

Cotehele’s medieval origins provided a perfect setting for the Edgcumbes to show off their ancestral home to guests, such as King George III in 1789. The Tudor house, with many stories and legends, is festooned with tapestries and adorned with textiles, arms and armour, pewter, brass and old oak furniture. The interior tour has changed little over the years, although the furnishings were titivated as Cotehele continued to inspire its adoring owners.Outside, explore the formally planted terraces, or lose yourself in the Valley Garden, which includes a medieval stewpond and dovecote. Seek tranquillity in the Upper Garden or visit the two orchards planted with local apples and cherries. From early spring flowers to herbaceous borders in high season, to the orchards in the autumn, there is something for everyone all year round in the garden.

Tavistock Town Hall

The Town Hall was designed by Edward Rundle, architect to the 7th Duke of Bedford. It was opened on the 2nd February 1864 with a Grand Ball which went on until 4am as reported by the Tavistock Gazette of the day. The building at the time also housed a Savings Bank, Parish Council offices and a Market Keepers residence. It was built over the site of Mathew Street, Lower Brook Street and Lower Market Street. Constructed of local stone in the Late Perpendicular Gothic style, it boasts a stunning main hall, with panelled walls and a superb maple floor, along with other historic and interesting rooms including the Mayors Parlour. Due to radical new taxation laws in 1910, the Town Hall, along with other local buildings, passed from the 11th Duke of Bedford’s estate into the freehold ownership of the Town Council. Nearly a century later and the building is still serving the community and forms the focal point of the town centre.

Amour's Social Media Updates

Amour have always been fantastic at keeping in touch with our brides and suppliers using Facebook, however we have now branched out into the worlds of Pinterest and Twitter.

Pinterest is a fab tool for putting up ideas and sharing them with others, our in-house wedding planner shares her thoughts, tips and theme ideas - take a look to see the latest boards, one for Summer Weddings and another in line with our forthcoming 20's Gatsby themed wedding fair at Glazebrook House on the 29th Sept. - everything from the roaring 20's era! Amour Wedding Fairs 2013

Here is the latest flyer listing the remaining dates for 2013. Amour are holding wedding fairs throughout Devon and Cornwall, and have some beautiful venues which we are extremely proud to be associated with.

New Venue - The stunning Cotehele has booked two dates for wedding fairs with Amour

Amour are extremely proud to announce we will be holding a wedding fair at the beautiful Cotehele House Barn. Set in stunning countryside, this National Heritage site is breathtaking and the perfect venue for weddings. It will be a large marquee event and the first date is set for November 3rd 2013.

New Wedding Fair Dates Added!

Amour are pleased to announce we have taken on two new venues! The beautiful Hotel Victoria in Newquay and the stunning Duke of Cornwall in Plymouth. We are very excited to work with both venues, there are several dates in the diary for these venues, both of which are fantastic wedding venues. Tavistock Town Hall a Huge Success!

Amour's Wedding Fair at Tavistock Town Hall on Sunday March 31st was a huge success!
The Fair was busy from start to finish, and bought in over 150 visitors.
The venue looked fabulous, the exhibitors received lots of enquiries and Tavistock Town Hall even took a booking for a wedding!
Networking was rife during the day, not only between the Amour team and the exhibitors but we loved seeing new relationships blossom between our wedding suppliers - look out for an article in La Belle Magazine with one of our favourites Bluebells and Nightingales!
The stage area was dressed by the wonderful Faithful Designs, Dartmoor Flowers and Devon Vintage China, and looked absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for coming together to create such a beautiful backdrop for the fair!
